I was at the AC/DC concert in Gravesend on the 1st of July 1976. In fact I came from France to visit a friend who was a french teacher, kind of assistant in a school. I paid 0.5 Sterling for the concert as there was a discount coupon in one of the local newspapers. I clearly remember the excited schoolboy, Angus, coming 20 meters inside the public. This was a new attitude and I never forgot.
I attended the show in Paris Stade de France on the 26th of May 2015. The boys are still there with more energy. Absolutely amazing. For me it was a bit more complicated as, at the age of 61, my knees hurt. I should have had a seat. I waited 39 years between the 2 concerts. After the next 39 years, I will attend one more exhibition. I will then be 100 years old, I will carry my wheelchair while Angus and his colleagues are still jumping like rockets.
Merci beaucoup les gars pour ce magnifue spectacle au Stade de France le 26 mai 2015, mais pour moi le 1er juillet 1976 reste mon jour de référence.

I was at the Thu. 1 Jul. 1976 : Gravesend, UK (Woodville Halls) Gig. A friend and I went in to Gravesend to go to the pictures but the film we intended to see wasn't on and the other films were a bit fuddy duddy so we were at a loose end. Then we saw all these people queuing to see a band (I say all these people, actually 15/20). When we asked them what the band was like they said didn't know as they hadn't seen them before but apparently they were loud. I remember talking it over for quite a while with my mate because we thought a pound was quite a lot to pay for some band we'd never heard of. Anyway as we had nothing better to do and we'd paid the bus fare to get in to town we joined the que, begrudgingly paid our pound and went in. I remember the support act was a juggler who also did balancing tricks (he balanced a foldback speaker on the end of a walking cane on his chin) I thought he was most impressive. Then the main act came on, AC/DC (you've got to bear in mind I was only fourteen at the time) apart from the noise we took one look at Angus looked at each other and thought in unison "what the FUCK is this?" You couldn't talk to each other it was too loud. We didn't get it a first but as the gig went on the penny dropped this was no holds barred, full throttle, anything goes rock something entirely new. We watched most of the gig partly bemused, partly in shock but really loving it. Then as it was getting late we had to leave before the end as we had to get the last bus home (ears ringing). So there you have it by a strange quirk of fate I got to see one of the world's greatest rock band when their support act was a juggler and it was certainly worth a pound. I hope this review has helped to enlightened someone on what the early AC/DC gig experience was like. Regards, Kevin
