In an interview published today in local Florida magazine Gulf Shore Life, Cliff Williams announced that he'll retire from recording and touring after AC/DC's US dates in September.
"It’s been what I’ve known for the past 40 years," Cliff said, "but after this tour I’m backing off of touring and recording. Losing Malcolm, the thing with Phil and now with Brian, it’s a changed animal. I feel in my gut it’s the right thing. When you start out, you kind of hope for success. That's what you are working for. But you never really know. It’s been surreal, really."
Cliff started his extraordinary professional career in 1969, joining AC/DC in June 1977 and played on every AC/DC album since 1978's Powerage. He took part in sixteen world tours with the band since 1977, and today is the only remaining member of the classic 1980 Back In Black line-up with Angus Young.
