Billboard Magazine recently reported that AC/DC's "Black Ice Tour 2008/2010" is the highest grossing tour in history. With $441.6 million in gross revenue, the 2008/10 Black Ice tour takes a backseat only to The Rolling Stones' 2005/07 "A Bigger Bang tour," which grossed $558.3 Million. Billboard also estimates that the band sold 4.9 Million tickets during the tour.
However, a more detailed calculation from various tour reports & estimates puts the numbers at $477 Million in gross revenue with 5.1 Million tickets sold in 168 dates, including 117 sold out shows. The "Black Ice Tour" spanned 20 months across 31 countries, starting in Wilkes Barre, PA on October 28th 2008 and ended in Bilbao, Spain on June 28th 2010.
