My memory not THAT good but google has a 'full concert' 28min video that I think really captures it. (search on AC DC 1977) 28mins sounds about right too as they opened for both 38 Special AND Johnny Winter. I sat in 4th row and the google footage that shows the crowd being lame probably IS from US tour. [NB: This footage is actually from BBC London Oct. 77] Nobody was sure how to react especially when they came to see southern rock music!?! (38 special threw out glass 5ths of Jack Daniels to the audience for an idea...) BUT this was a crowd that appreciated the guitar to be sure so when it was all over, they definitely got a HELL YEA despite nobody quite knowing any of the songs. It was my (at the time) brother-in-law's first concert so this was his first 'band'. Pretty wild eh?

I DO have an actual program from this concert. Back then they used to do kool stuff like that for concerts. Even rock shows. Unfortunately other than an ad for their new album on the last inside page (including price!), there is nothing else about them in there BUT you will notice they are the ONLY album advertised in the entire booklet. Note: the bad typing on the first page of the J.Winter article is printed like that in the program. If I run across the ticket stubs some day, I will be sure and post them here too. Back then they usually put all the bands on the bill right on the ticket. Thank you (this website) for being the ONLY one to even verify that this concert took place back a few years ago when I was starting to doubt myself.
    Let there be rock!

I can confirm the other posters comments: We were just cruising around downtown Detroit looking for something to do as 18 year olds like us were prone to do. The radio said Johnny Winter was at Masonic so we went. The crowd was there to see southern rockers (everyone around us were wearing cowboy hats). AC/DC came on first. I had never heard of them. I was so impressed, they totally blew me away!! The idiots around us were jeering and booing. They just didn't get it. .38 Special & Johnny Winter were a let down compared to AC/DC's set. It was the only time I remember going to the record store the day after a show to buy an album on the strength of the previous nights performance. Bought "Let There be Rock" on vinyl AND cassette. I wore them both out turning all my friends on to "this amazing new band from Australia."

Saw this concert, AC/DC was all but booed off the stage... How was I to know just a few years later they would be headlining stadiums....
