what a show! we had no idea who acdc was at the time.
when they left the stage, we all wondered how was
aerosmith going to top these guys? angus riding
bon's back, up and down the aisles in this new at
the time outdoor venue, just blew us away. i'll never
forget thinking at the time, "this guy (angus) will have a
short career. no one can be that active and live
very long". i guess i was wrong.

I knew of AC/DC for a year or two prior to the show and really didn't care about seeing Aerosmith. AC/DC Blew us away. We went crazy and the boys came back for 3 encores which a warm up band doesn't usually do. Aerosmith finally came on stage and Steven Tyler was so stoned/drugged out that he couldn't even sing, just babbled and hung on to the mike stand, and was a total let down after the OUTSTANDING show that AC/DC gave us. It was THE turning moment in my life 17 years old at the time and saw the boys again when I was stationed with the USAF at RAF Upper Heyfrord from 80-82. Saw the boys at Donnington monsters of rock and at a very small theatre somewhere else in England where we were about 8 rows back. Actually met Angus as he was being led back to the stage from up the stairs at the bar or office? Got to shake his hand and give him my best Yank yea hoos. Alpine Valley was The place to go for concerts in the mid/late 70's and only an hour and a half from the house in Illinois. Love those days

Just got my license. My best friend and 2 girls from my hometown... hoping to get lucky. Too shy. Road drank etc the hour and a half there. Then in parking lot. Don't remember AC/DC at all. Tom Hamilton got beaned in the face with a football and invited the QB backstage for a fight after the show. All I remember. 16 y/o...driving 1978. Very lucky to have made it through late 70's f/b the 80's!!
