  • 7: The movie "Howard Stern: Private Parts", released in the US, which includes AC/DC playing "You Shook Me All Night Long".

  • The band starts working on "Bonfire".

  Summer 97
  • The band is in London working on a new studio album.
  October 97
  • Single, "Dirty Eyes", released in the US. Not available at retail.
  November 97
  • 17: "Bonfire" released in Europe and Australia.

  • 18: "Bonfire" released in the US.

  • Promotional Tour in the US and Canada.

  • "Back In Black" is certified 16 times Multi-Platinum by the RIAA, reaching 16 million sales in the US, becoming the second biggest selling hard rock album in the US.

  December 97
  • 6: "Bonfire" released in the UK on the EMI label. The band signs with EMI for the UK only.

  • 15: "Bonfire" released in Japan.
