  • Rehearsals for "Flick Of The Switch" at the Isle Of Man, UK.
  April 83
  • Beginning of "Flick Of The Switch" recording sessions in Nassau, Bahamas (Compass Point Studios). 13 tracks are recorded and 3 won’t be used and still remain unreleased to this day. This is the first album produced by AC/DC themselves, with some help from "Dutch Damager" and "The Gorgeous Glaswegian" (alias Harry Vanda & George Young).
  May 83
  • Phil Rudd is sacked from the band in the middle of the recording sessions. His drug taking abuses and personal problems with other members of the band lead to his firing. Former Procol Harum drummer Barry J. Wilson is called in to finish the album but his parts will not be used.
  July 83
  • Press reports suggest AC/DC’s new drummer is Phil Thompson (Ex-Roxy Music).

  • Simon Wright joins the band as their new drummer after answering an ad in Sounds Magazine and passing an audition at Nomis Studios in London.

  August 83
  • 15: "Flick Of The Switch" released in the US.

  • 19: "Flick Of The Switch" released in Europe.

  • 23: "Flick Of The Switch" released in Australia.

  • The US Tour scheduled to start on the 28th is postponed.

  September 83
  • Single, "Guns For Hire / Landslide", released worldwide.

  • 10: "Flick Of The Switch" enters the US Billboard charts, eventually peaking at #15. It reaches #4 on the UK charts.

  October 83
  • 3: Single, "Nervous Shakedown / Brain Shake", released in Australia.

  • Single, "Guns For Hire / Landslide", released in Japan.

  • Rehearsals in Los Angeles

  • The filming of the "Flick Of The Switch", "Nervous Shakedown" and "Guns For Hire" videos in Los Angeles. All 3 are directed by Paul Becher.

  • US/Canadian Tour, 3 months. Supported by Fastway. Tour starts in Vancouver, Canada.
  November 83
  • Single, "Flick Of The Switch / Badlands", released in the US, Canada, Italy and Spain.

  • 28: Single, "Flick Of The Switch / Badlands", released in Australia.

  December 83
  • 19: US/Canadian Tour ends at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
