1976/77

Very few 1976 shows exist on tape and consequently few different bootlegs are available. The most common being the London Marquee show broadcast on the BBC and released as a Transcription disc in 76, this has never been released in its entirety. The BBC Studio sessions have never been issued in complete form either, but can be found in their best version on "1976". Other interesting 76 shows include the Brisbane 76 concert (a superb audience recording, unusual for the time) Sydney Haymarket from January 77 and the recently released Edinburgh Playhouse gig.

  • Source: BBC Sessions & London Marquee: Radio. London TV: TV. Reading: Audience.
  • Sound: BBC Sessions: Perfect, London TV: Very good, London Marquee: Excellent, Reading: Poor.
  • ACDC76 (1981, Sweden).
  • Note: Original release numbered on clear red vinyl (500 copies). One of the first bootleg, part of the "Live" serie released in 1981, this was at the time an excellent compilation of rarely performed tracks. Missing just one track, this is still the best source for the excellent BBC Sessions 76. Reissued with same sleeve, insert, on opaque red vinyl in 1988 (?). Similar label, but has the track listing on it.
  • LIVE-76 (Lp, reissue)
  • Same as above.
  • Spain (?), 1982
  • Note: Reissue on black vinyl with white stamped sleeve & photocopied insert. Rare.
  • LIVE-76 (Lp, reissue)
  • Same as above.
  • Spain (?), 1983
  • Note: Reissue on yellow vinyl, limited edition of 200.
  • LIVE-76 (Lp, reissue)
  • Same as above.
  • Spain, 1988
  • Note: Almost an exact replica of the original version, but issued on opaque red vinyl, with additional text on the white sleeve. The label is the same, but has titles on it. Also includes a copy of the yellow insert.
  • LIVE-76 (Lp, reissue)
  • Same as above.
  • Spain (?), 1989 (?)
  • Note: Reissue on black vinyl, with new insert
  • LIVE-76 (CD)
  • Same as above, without all the interviews and Jailbreak incomplete.
  • Men At Work 5512.2 (Italy, 1990)
  • Note: Only CD version of this great compilation. Also the only CD to contain the almost complete BBC Sessions.
  • A GIANT DOSE OF ROCK & ROLL! (Lp)
  • Side 1: Jailbreak - The Jack (with Gonorrhea intro) - She's Got Balls (Incomplete)
  • Side 2: Can I Sit Next To You Girl - T.N.T - Rocker
  • Live Sydney (Hurtsville Civic Centre) 5 Feb. 77
  • Source: Audience.
  • Sound: Good.
  • YD 004 (Matrix) (1998, Germany)
  • Note: Excellent gig. Great extended version of "Jailbreak". The first version of this Hurstville concert made available on bootleg, reissued since on CD as "The Devil Rocks". The vinyl is poorly pressed though and concert isn't complete here.
  • A GIANT DOSE OF ROCK 'N' ROLL (CD)
  • Love Song (intro) - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - She's Got Balls - Problem Child - Live Wire - The Jack (With Gonorrhea intro) - Jailbreak - T.N.T. - Can I Sit Next To You Girl - High Voltage - Baby Please Don't Go - Rocker
  • Live Hobart, Aust (City Hall) 7 Jan. 1977
  • Source: Audience.
  • Sound: Very Good.
  • ACTAS77 (Matrix) (Feb 2003, Germany)
  • Note: A clone of the CD-R found with the double Lp "The Little Cunts Have Done It." Digipak.
  • ...AND I CURDLED HER CREAM - THE LITTLE CUNTS REVISITED (2 Lp's)
  • Side 1: Love Song (intro) - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - She's Got Balls - Problem Child
  • Side 2: Live Wire - The Jack (With Gonorrhea intro)
  • Side 3: Jailbreak - T.N.T. - Can I Sit Next To You Girl - High Voltage
  • Side 4: Baby Please Don't Go - Rocker
  • Live in Hobart, Aust (City Hall) 7 Jan. 1977
  • Source: Audience.
  • Sound: Very good.
  • RRR 1040 (Oct. 2002, USA)
  • Note: Reissue of "The Little Cunts Have Done It" with new sleeve. Limited to 30 copies.

  • BBC TRANSCRIPTION SERVICES (Lp)
  • Side 1: Live Wire - It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock & Roll) - Soul Stripper - High Voltage.
  • Side 2: Def Leppard Live Reading 1980.
  • Live London (Marquee Club) Jul. 76.
  • Source: Taken from the legitimate BBC Disc "Pop Spectacular".
  • Sound: Perfect.
  • London Wavelength 2647S (1990, UK)
  • Note: Counterfeit of the famous BBC Disc. This has Def Leppard on Side B, legitimate copy has Max Merrit. Best sound quality of that concert available, but missing one track of the full show. If you can't afford or find the original this one is the way to go. Contrary to popular belief, this show was not recorded on Sept. 4th 1976, but sometime in July 76, and the venue is unconfirmed. First pressing (and rare) of this bootleg with yellow label, subsequent ones with white label.
  • CAN I SIT NEXT TO YOU GIRL (7" Single)
  • Side A: Can I Sit Next To You Girl [London BBC Studios 3 Jun 76] - Soul Stripper [London Marquee Jul. 76]
  • Side B: She's Got Balls [Live Offenbach 29 Apr. 77]
  • ACDC SEX-3535 PRO (Matrix) (1996, Germany?)
  • Source: Radio (Side A), Audience (Side B).
  • Sound: Poor.
  • Note: Available in yellow vinyl, green vinyl. Very poor sound reproduction, plays 33rpm.
  • CAN I SIT ON YOUR FACE GIRL... YOU CAN SIT ON MINE (Lp)
  • Side A: Jailbreak - The Jack - Can I Sit Next To You Girl
  • Side B: High Voltage - Rocker - It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)
  • Live Sydney (Haymarket) 30 Jan. 77.
  • AC 201 (Matrix) (Nov. 02, Sweden)
  • Source: Radio, JJJ Radio Broadcast.
  • Sound: Good.
  • Note: Contrary to what is indicated on the back sleeve, this is NOT recorded in Adelaide on Dec. 4th, 76, but at Sydney's Haymarket in January 77. Despite being from an FM radio broadcast, the sound quality is far from perfect due to a poor vinyl pressing. This concert now exists in much better quality on CD.
  • CIRQUE ROYAL (Lp)
  • Side 1: Live Wire - She's Got Balls - School Days -
  • Side 2: Baby Please Don't Go - Soul Stripper [Live Den Hagg 18 Oct 76] - Can I Sit Next To You Girl [Live Koln 25 Sept. 76]
  • Live Brussels (Cirque Royal) 16 Oct. 76 except indicated.
  • Source: Audience.
  • Sound: Fair.
  • cr76 (2004, France)
  • Note: Although this concert exists and circulates as a low generation source tape of great quality, it is presented here in a much lower sound quality, and the vinyl pressing is quite poor, especially side 2 which is almost inaudible. Only version of the concert on bootleg album though, but for collectors who must have everything only... Limited edition of 60 numbered copies in clear vinyl, thus quite rare already. Also comes with CD-R of the album.
  • DIRTY DEEDS DOWN UNDER (Lp)
  • Side 1: Love song (intro only) - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - She's Got Balls - Problem Child - Jailbreak (cut)
  • Side 2: The Jack (w/Gonorrhea intro) - T.N.T. - Baby Please Don't Go (cut)
  • Live Brisbane (Festival Hall) 18 Dec. 76.
  • Source: Audience.
  • Sound: Very good.
  • AC1 (1986, Germany)
  • Note: Furious concert and excellent audience recording for its time. Includes the only version of the intro of "Love song" performed live. This concert is not available on any other bootleg, but unfortunately this release does not include the entire gig. It is now quite rare but definitely worth digging. Was also issued in multicolor vinyl (very limited edition).
  • THE DEVIL ROCKS (CD)
  • Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - She's Got Balls - Problem Child - Live Wire - Jailbreak - The Jack (with Gonorrhea intro) - Can I Sit Next To You Girl - T.N.T - Rocker - Interview Angus [Australia, FM 104 Brisbane, 20 Feb. 89]
  • Live Sydney (Hurtsville Civic Centre) 5 Feb. 77
  • Source: Audience.
  • Sound: Very Good.
  • DC-DR-01 (Matrix) (Dec. 2002, Germany)
  • Note: Excellent gig, and this bootleg includes the complete concert, previously only available partly on "A Giant Dose Of Rock & Roll!" and "The Years With Bon Scott," both of which had poor vinyl pressings. The CD is the definitive version of this concert taken from a tape, not the vinyl Lp's, although for strange reasons has gaps between tracks. Cool short interview with Angus as bonus track too.
  • THE LITTLE CUNTS HAVE DONE IT (2 Lp's)
  • Side 1: Love Song (intro) - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - She's Got Balls - Problem Child
  • Side 2: Live Wire - The Jack (With Gonorrhea intro)
  • Side 3: Jailbreak - T.N.T. - Can I Sit Next To You Girl - High Voltage
  • Side 4: Baby Please Don't Go - Rocker
  • Live in Hobart, Aust (City Hall) 7 Jan. 1977
  • Source: Audience.
  • Sound: Very good.
  • Rosie's Revenge Records RRR 1040 (June 2001, USA)
  • Note: This recent double album release includes a never-heard before Hobart 77 concert recorded during the "Giant Dose of Rock & Roll" Australian tour, which almost got called "The Little Cunts Have Done It Tour," hence the album's title. A complete superb gig with the band in top form, a few weeks before recording the album "Let There Be Rock." Good audience recording for the period. Limited to150 numbered copies, also includes a color insert and a CD-R with color label of the same gig. Essential.
  • LIVE IN ENGLAND FEATURING BON SCOTT (7" Single)
  • Side A: Jailbreak [Live London (Wembley Theatre) Marc Bolan TV Show July 76]
  • Side B: It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock & Roll) [Live London Marquee July 76]
  • Source: TV (Side A), Radio (Side B).
  • Sound: Very good/Good.
  • Azimuth AM 301 62 (1989)
  • Note: Poor sound reproduction.
  • NO AFRAID... ...IT'S ONLY ROCK 'N ROLL (Lp/CD-R)
  • Side 1: Live Wire - Rock & Roll Singer - Jailbreak - She's Got Balls
  • Side 2: The Jack (On CD version only) - Rocker - High Voltage - Baby Please Don't Go
  • Live Birmingham, UK (Barbarella's) 31 Jul. 76.
  • Source: Audience.
  • Sound: Good.
  • No Afraid Records 2-39-56 (Jul 1997, Germany)
  • Note: Complete version of the Birmingham concert, only available on this release so far. Rare version of "Rock & Roll Singer". Numbered CD-R, and the Lp is ultra rare. Rough sound but good concert.
  • NO WUCKIN FURRIES (Lp/CD-R)
  • Side 1: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - Jailbreak - The Jack - Can I Sit Next To You Girl
  • Side 2: High Voltage - Rocker - It's A Long Way To The Top
  • Live Sydney, Aust (Haymarket) 'Festival Of Sydney' 30 Jan. 77.
  • Source: FM.
  • Sound: Perfect.
  • Xerocks Records xrx-fos77-2005 (Jun 2005, USA)
  • Note: This is actually an acetate, with a very limited edition of only 20 copies, and comes with a color insert. A few songs on the Lp are edited whereas the CD-R that comes with it is complete. A superb release and by far the best sounding of this great early 77 concert, remastered from the FM broadcast. Unlikely you'll find the actual Lp which is already ultra rare at an affordable price but this is an essential release...
  • SCOTTISH BASTARDS (Lp)
  • Side 1: Live Wire - She's Got Balls - It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock & Roll) - Can I Sit Next To You Girl
  • Side 2: The Jack - High Voltage - T.N.T. - Baby Please Don't Go (End cut)
  • Live Edinburgh, UK (Playhouse Theatre) 12 Jun. 76.
  • Source: Audience.
  • Sound: Excellent.
  • Wolf Records WOLF 003 (Jan 2002, Sweden)
  • Note: Curiously although this recording has been circulating for years it has never surfaced on bootleg until recently. Excellent audience source and this is the earliest known complete live recording of the band. Good pressing despite the fact that this is some 50 minutes long. Only hiss is the incomplete 'Baby Please Don't Go.' Highly recommended. Issued in brown, purple, yellow, red, green and gold vinyl.
  • ROCK 'N' ROLL SINGER (7" Single)
  • Side A: Rock 'N' Roll Singer [Live Birmingham, UK (Barbarella's) 31 Jul. 76]
  • Side B: School Days [Live Brussels, Bel (Cirque Royal) 15 Oct. 76]
  • Source: Audience.
  • Sound: Good.
  • XeRocks Records XRX-920419 (Feb. 2000, USA)
  • Note: New release with superb sleeve and two tracks very rarely performed live. Rough sound but worth it. Limited edition of 300, 200 on black vinyl, 100 on purple vinyl and 100 on green vinyl.
  • SIN SYDNEY 76 (Lp)
  • Side 1: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - She's Got Balls - Problem Child - Live Wire
  • Side 2: Jailbreak - The Jack (with Gonorrhea intro) - Can I Sit Next To You Girl (incomplete) - Stone Cold Crazy (Metallica)
  • Live Sydney (Haymarket) "Festival of Sydney" 30 Jan. 77
  • Source: Audience.
  • Sound: Very good.
  • Home Grown MEFW-01/02 (1991, Germany)
  • Note: Available on black vinyl (2 different labels), multicolor vinyl numbered limited (500) edition. Excellent concert with a furious "Live Wire". This concert is not available on any other bootleg. The date indicated on the back sleeve is wrong.
